Building Technology Yard 1997

This protective cover was designed and built by Studio 804 in the spring of 1997. It provided protection from the elements for an outdoor workshop behind Marvin Hall, the home of the School of Architecture and Design at the University of Kansas. Referred to as the Building Technology Yard it was an invaluable asset to the school used by students at all levels to cultivate the principles of material investigation. When the interest in hands on work spread throughout the architecture department the university responded by acquiring the East Hills Warehouse which is now the home of Studio 804 and used by several other studios and classes. After this, the Building Technology yard was no longer essential and was removed when it came time for Studio 804 to build The Forum in its location in 2014.
